Jiří Ježek as eleven hyperactive child when crossing a busy street step in directly under the wheels of the truck. After surgery when he woke up in the hospital he discovered that his right leg is missing from the knee down. In four months he could walk normally and went to school. Soon he realized that the "wooden leg" is not so great handicap, and began to behave as if nothing had happened. Decisive influence on his future had a meeting with Joseph Lachman, who was the first Czech to enforce the Paralympics Games. They started to train together, enthusiasm and zeal take effect.
Jirka is one of the most successful handicapped athletes from Czech Republic and he also ranks among the world's best-known paralympics athlete. His professional approach has changed the face of handicapped cycling and for over ten years of steadily increasing the performance level of the sport.
Despite his handicap Jirka regularly and successfully compete with the best healthy cyclists in a challenging professional races around the world.
